The cleric who heads a day centre which helps thousands of people struggling with poverty has called for an end of dumping addicts into hospital emergency departments.
Brother Kevin Crowley said treatment programmes for those with alcohol or drug abuse problems are woefully inadequate.
The 86-year-old, who has been running the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin’s inner city for more than 50 years, added these issues worsened throughout the pandemic.
