After much anticipation, Clemson running back Will Shipley has announced that he will bring his talents to the next level as he declares for the 2024 NFL draft.
Shipley has been one of the most productive playmakers in Clemson history, producing excellent numbers all three seasons with the Tigers. Over that span, Shipley has managed to put up 33 total touchdowns and over 3,000 total scrimmage yards. His best season came in a 2022 campaign where he ran all over teams for 1,182 yards, 15 touchdowns, and averaged 5.6 yards per carry.
Will Shipley in space is a tough tackle despite not being overall elusive he has good footwork and works leverage points well to create mistakes and limited solid contact.

While running backs have certainly had their draft value decreased over the years, there seems to be a resurgence with two backs going high in the first round last year. While Shipley isn’t quite as talented as Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson he is still an every down back who can do tons of damage both in the air and on the the ground. Shipley has proven to be a reliable playmaker, and you can expect him to be one of the first running backs off the board somewhere in the second round.
