'Clear to see' - Frank Lampard makes Everton relegation claim after rival results

Frank Lampard believes it is 'really clear' Everton are in a battle to avoid the drop and has called on his side to focus on themselves and not others.

Second-half goals from Stuart Armstrong and Shane Long condemned the Blues to yet another defeat on the road in the top-flight at St Mary's on Saturday afternoon.

The last time Everton managed to claim all three points away from home in the Premier League was against Brighton & Hove Albion back in August.

Frank Lampard’s side now find themselves four points above the relegation zone after both Burnley and Watford won away from home.

The Clarets claimed an impressive 3-0 win against Brighton at the Amex, while Roy Hodgson’s side won 1-0 at Villa Park against Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa.

But when asked about Burnley and Watford's wins on the road, Lampard revealed it is something he expected, and believes his side will pick up points of their own between now and the end of the season.

“That’s the Premier League. We expect Burnley to win at Brighton. Brighton are a fantastic team, it shows you,” the Everton boss said after his side's 2-0 defeat.

“Watford going and getting a result, you can’t expect that won’t happen. We had our own result last week, and we will get results going forward, so yeah we just focus on ourselves.”

While the Blues boss also believes that his side’s position in the table means they are 'clearly' in a battle to avoid the drop.

“I think it is really clear, isn’t it? The position we are at in the table is clear to see,” Lampard responded when asked about the threat of relegation.

“So it is not something that we have to debate. As a team and staff we just have to work on getting results, to improve our position.

“Win last week and it looks much better. Today you don’t win and the table is pretty clear. So I don’t think you have to deny our position.”
