Cleaning guru's 10-minute hack for smoothing out shirt creases without an iron

Juggling a million and one different chores can get overwhelming when you've got too many plates spinning. Something has to give when your to-do list is spiralling, and as much as we'd all like to keep on top of our ironing pile, it's a task that can get pushed down to the bottom of the priority list.

Some garments don't need ironing whatsoever, and others you can just about get away with if you're in a pinch. But sadly, clothing staples like shirts always need a once-over with the iron to avoid creases and stubborn lines.

If the thought of ironing fills you with dread each time, laundry expert Deyan Dimitrov, CEO of Laundryheap, has just the solution which will mean your iron can stay firmly in the cupboard - and it takes less than 10 minutes.

If you're not a fan of using your iron, or you don't have time, an expert has shared a way to get creases out of clothes (Stock Image) (Getty Images/Caiaimage)

Deyan shared that the best way to remove creases from your clothes is by using ice cubes in your tumble dryer. Confused? Well, the hack works by putting several ice cubes into a dryer with the clothes. The heat generated from the dryer then melts the ice cubes, flooding the drum with steam during the cycle.

The tumble dryer is then transformed into a DIY steamer which will "smooth out creases", giving the impression you've "freshly ironed" your clothes - and they can be worn straight from the machine.

Deyan referred to the trick as a "time saver" for when you don't want to use your iron - but he did admit it's unlikely to work on heavier items such as jeans.

He also said you shouldn't overfill your drum as otherwise, the hack won't work as the clothes need to be "exposed to the steam."

He continued: "Alternatively, another way of quickly de-wrinkling your clothes is to hang them up in your bathroom during your shower.

"However, due to the higher heat of the dryer, the ice cube hack is likely to produce better results."

The Express also suggested hairdryers are also a great alternative to ironing. Simply hang the wrinkled item up and blow dry it.

Or a spray bottle filled with water can be used. The water can either be plain or mixed with fabric softener.

Hang up the wrinkled item and spray the garment from 12 inches away. The wrinkles should disappear as the clothes dry.
