Cleaning fan shares 'brilliant' bathroom storage hack for those on a budget

One person shared online a tip for those on a budget to help organise their bathroom storage, and others have called the idea "amazing".

Amid the worsening cost of living crisis and soaring energy bills, households across Scotland and the UK are having to live on a lot less.

With less money available to buy household products, people have been taking matters into their own hands and finding cost-effective ways to save money.

Bathroom cabinets are a luxury many simply can't afford right now, and so someone decided to make their own.

Making use of old cat food boxes, they were able to fashion a homemade storage solution to organise all of their hair and skin products.

Sharing the idea in the Cleaning tips and tricks Facebook group, they wrote: "I ain’t got a lot of money so I recycled my cats foods boxes as storage organisers for my bathroom stuff."

The hack was a hit with fellow Facebook users, and before long the post had racked up over 3,600 likes and almost 400 comments.

One person wrote: "Fabulous idea, far too many ‘useful’ empty containers go to landfill or recycling then we buy aesthetically pleasing storage items."

A second said: "Good idea, re-use stuff wherever you can... it’s amazing what we can use rather than just throw it away. I’m always looking at my jars/ tins anything…. I’ll save anything….. you never know."

"That looks amazing, great idea, ponder off to see what boxes I can repurpose," a third revealed.

A fourth meanwhile shared: "I do this. I use the baby wipe box from multi buy boxes. I use two of them to store shampoos, conditioners etc in. Fit perfectly in the cupboard where it's all stored."

A fifth posted: "Brilliant idea. Good strong boxes. I grew up with my parents saving boxes, jars and ice cream tubs etc."

Some users suggested personalising the boxes (Cleaning tips and tricks)

A sixth stated: "I do exactly the same with my empty cat food boxes… perfect size for storing letters in as well."

Some even suggested taking the idea even further and decorating the boxed to improve the look of them slightly.

One group member commented: "Great idea! If you ever pop into a Wilko or B&M or any place that sells wallpaper really, then you could take some free wallpaper samples and cover the front of the whole box with it to make it match your bathroom."

A second agreed: "Great idea, cover them in wallpaper from Wilko just grab a samples of them from the sample rolls."

"You should get a tester pot of whatever colour you like and paint them they are very cheap and will look lovely but it looks lovely now so well done," a third echoed.
