Cleaning experts share 25p hack for a sparkling microwave without scrubbing

When it comes to chores, cleaning grimy and tight spots like ovens and microwaves are often near the bottom of the to-do list, and for good reason.

While it has to be done the greasy and time consuming scrubbing process can be as exhausting as it is unpleasant - especially if you have been ignoring the task for too long.

However, there are some clever and cost effective ways to get your kitchen appliances sparkling. One cleaning hack which will put you back just 25p will leave the microwave looking good as new, according to experts.

And as reported by The Mirror, it also requires no scrubbing, making the process much less tedious.

The publication spoke to experts at Zoflora, one of Mrs Hinch's favourite brands, and the cleaning aces recommended a simple method to clean tricky to tackle microwaves.

All you need is a bowl of water and slices of lemon as the fruit, which can be purchased individually for just 25p from any supermarket, can help you "loosen any grease".

To get your microwave looking good as new and nice and "hygienic", simply place the bowl of lemon water instead and turn the microwave on for three to five minutes.

Once you have done this you can wipe away the grease and then simply have to keep on top of wiping surfaces down to ensure that your microwave stays sparkling.

A spokesperson for Zoflora shared a top tip for disinfecting them after use, adding: "Dishcloths and sponges can harbour potentially harmful viruses and bacteria.

"Getting into the habit of leaving your dishcloths and sponges to soak in diluted Concentrated Disinfectant (one capful for every 400ml water) at the end of the day will not only leave them hygienically clean and fill the room with beautiful fragrance for 24 hours but also save you having to repurchase new cloths on a regular basis."
