Claudia Winkleman has announced a change of format for Strictly Come Dancing's upcoming semi final and it struck 'panic' into the couples left in the competition, as they learned their workload will double for the coming week.
There has been significant upheaval on the much loved BBC show this week as, in a move that confused and annoyed its millions of fans, Strictly was shunted from its usual Saturday night slot to Friday evening, to allow BBC One to air live coverage of the World Cup knockout games on Saturday.
That means that this weekend's Strictly results aired on Saturday, rather than Sunday, although the Strictly spoiler had already leaked the outcome by the time the show aired, with fans finding out what happened, hours after credits rolled on Friday night. In line with the Musicals Week theme for the quarter final, the results programme kept things theatrical with a Guys & Dolls inspired opening from the Strictly pros and a guest performance from the stars of hit musical The Cher Show.
Away from all the razzle dazzle of the music, there was some business to be done as Claudia's co-host Tess Daly had the job of revealing who was safe and who was in the dance-off, with latest eliminated contestant Kym Marsh and Molly Rainford the stars in trouble this week.
Right before Molly found out she was in danger for a fourth time this series, Will Mellor and Helen Skelton found out they'd made it through to the semi final, although Claudia had some rather unwelcome news for them - they will have to learn two dances for next weekend.
She asked Will: "How are you going to tackle that?" to which he replied: "Not a clue! It just sounds knackering. My brain is knackered as it is, it's like I'm dancing in my sleep. So we'll just have to do what we can do; I mean, we're all in the same boat."
There was some news for fans to digest at the end of this week's results show when Tess confirmed the Strictly semi final will be on a Sunday, with the results on a Monday.
