'Class act' - Harry Redknapp picks out the West Ham ace who was brilliant against Bournemouth

Harry Redknapp has hailed Lucas Paqueta as a "class act" for West Ham United after his recent performances for the Hammers.

The Brazilian has played an important role for David Moyes' side in recent weeks, with the 25-year-old putting in strong performances against Southampton, Arsenal and Bournemouth in the Premier League, and against Gent in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals.

Paqueta was on the scoresheet on Sunday as West Ham beat Bournemouth 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium, adding to his goal in midweek in Europe as the Hammers beat Gent 4-1 to seal a place in the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.

And former West Ham boss Redknapp has heaped praise on the 25-year-old, who has now made 32 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions since his switch from Lyon last summer.

Including Paqueta in his Premier League team of the week for Bet Victor, Redknapp said: "Lucas Paqueta has been a class act for West Ham recently. West Ham are playing their best football of the season right now and the pairing of him and [Declan] Rice in the midfield is a big reason why.

"It’s taken a while for the lad to properly settle but he’s looking like a fantastic footballer. That header against Bournemouth was brilliant, he showed so much desire."

Paqueta was West Ham's only representative in Redknapp's team of the week, which features three Newcastle United players after their 6-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur, with Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock and Alexander Isak all included.

Liverpool duo Andrew Robertson and Diogo Jota were also included after the Reds' 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest, while Leicester City defenders Timothy Castagne and Caglar Soyuncu also made the team after the Foxes' 2-1 win against Wolves.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo and Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz were the other players included in Redknapp's team of the week.
