Clash between teacher and principal in Patna school campus goes viral on social media

PATNA: Clash between a teacher and principal of a government middle school in Bihta block of Patna went viral on social media on Friday.

What started with a verbal dispute, soon took violent turn with a teacher thrashing and hitting the principal incharge of the school inside the campus, while the students were silently watching the ugly scene.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning in an upgraded middle school in Kauriya panchayat in Bihta. In the video, the principal in charge Kanti Kumari could be seen having a heated argument with second grade teacher Anita Kumari and her mother Gayatri Devi, who too was present in the classroom. Someone filming the brawl from outside the window was even interrupted by Anita, who then closed the window. However, within seconds, this argument turned violent with Anita along with her mother hitting and thrashing the principal in charge and pulling her hair, who too could be seen kicking them. This fight continued even in the nearby agricultural plot.

Bihta block education officer Navesh Kumar said both Kanti and Anita are distant relatives and the argument started over their personal family issue.

However, he accepted such incidents in the classroom and in front of the students were not acceptable.

"Soon after knowing about this incident, the district magistrate ordered for an investigation and action against the culprits. On Thursday night a three members committee was formed which will soon submit the report to the district education officer," said Navesh, who too is a part of this investigating committee.

He further said both the principal in charge as well as the school teacher have been asked for the explanation. "We are waiting to get the reply today. But it is for sure that the action will be taken," he added. The committee had not got any reply till Friday evening.
