Claire Foy has admitted that she struggled to watch her former co-star Matt Smith’s latest role in the Game of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon.
The British actress, 38, has been a dear friend to the 40-year-old ever since they starred as a young Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in Netflix drama The Crown.
Despite their friendship, Foy explained that she was rather frank with Smith about his current role as the divisive Prince Daemon Targaryen, telling him she found his character’s antics “disgusting to watch”.
As per the Daily Mail, the TV star said: “I’ve watched all of it. It took a huge amount of commitment, which waned towards the end.
“I was a very committed friend but I disagreed with him in many scenes.
“I then had to tell [Smith] that I found them disgusting to watch.”
Fans of the fantasy prequel watched Smith’s character, who is the heir presumptive to the Iron Throne, engage in an incestuous relationship with his young niece Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
Not only that but fans were left stunned watching his character’s racy antics during the premiere episode, which saw him enjoying a tryst with his prostitute mistress Mysaria.
In the scene, a naked Daemon stopped mid-romp as he dwelled on the possibility of his brother King Viserys I replacing him on the throne.
The HBO series is set to return for a second season and while the cast has yet to be announced, it is believed Smith will reprise his role.
