CK Power Public Company Limited, or CKPower, one of the region’s largest producers of electricity from renewables with one of the lowest carbon footprints, has reinforced its commitment for enhancing green and innovative sustainability to strengthen its neighbouring community, evidenced by two prestigious awards at the Thailand-Japan Decarbonization Award (TJDA) 2026.
The honourable Golden Award was given to “Waste and Wastewater Management in Power Generation Processes” project at Bangpa-in Cogeneration Power Plant in Ayutthaya province, and the Silver Award for the “Waste to Value-Hinghoi: Preserving and Restoring Natural Resources” project at Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Lao PDR.
The awards were organised by the Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan) (TPA) for promoting organisations in developing and applying technologies and innovations that deliver tangible greenhouse gas emission reductions.
Under the company’s DNA for green innovation, its innovative team in Bangpa-in Cogeneration Power Plant developed effective technology for optimising lubricating oil management to reduce waste, together with enhancing water efficiency in the cooling system (cooling tower) by setting up a proper level of chemical control for water reuse. With advanced methods, it resulted in over 743 million litres of water consumption reduced, saving over 19.5 million baht. The amount of lu-bricating oil used was also cut down to over 28,000 litres, saving over 2.6 million baht in expenditure. Additionally, it helped to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 95,000 kg CO₂e.
The project was initiated under the company’s strategic framework of sustainable C-K-P, in which C referred to clean electricity. It is the company’s development pathway to apply innovation and technology in doing business, under its strong ambition to balance environmental conservation, power management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and support environmental conservation.
Regarding the “Waste to Value-Hinghoi: Preserving and Restoring Natural Resources” project at Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Lao PDR, CKPower has met with a success transforming organic waste from food scraps within the plant into 2,665 kilogramme of fertiliser per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions from waste burning by over 3,840 kg CO₂e. The project helped villagers save fertiliser purchases of over 72,900 baht a year. The successful project is in line with the company’s C (clean electricity) and K (kind neighbour) strategy by expanding collaborative networks to drive community-based innovation. It also supported chemical-free agriculture and reinforced the role of the private sector in creating shared value for society.

The company has placed emphasis on developing “innovator” for achieving sustainable development and promoting a corporate culture of people’s participation to develop innovation extended into core areas of building up power security, increasing a capacity of resilience, limiting natural resource consumption and impacts on community and sharing value to community in the long run. Last year, the number of accumulating pieces of innovation went to 25 innovations, with 60 innovators. Importantly, over 2,780 stakeholder have learnt more about innovative knowledge. The company’s successful innova-tion development is affirmed by the decreasing volume of power con-sumption to 21,454 megawatt-hour (MWh) per year, followed by fuel consumption reduction to 8,730.39 litres a year, 3,998.42 tonnes of CO₂e carbon emission reduction a year, together with water consumption reduction to 107,751 cubic metres per year. All is translated into 16.54 million baht saving for energy.
It found that the two projects have brought a sense of harmony environmental value to the community in a sustainable way. The project Bangpa-in Cogeneration Power Plant has showcased the company’s outstanding practice to increase efficiency in parallel with environmental protection. Meanwhile, the project of “Waste to Value” in Laos’ Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant has created a core value of partnership among neighbouring communities. Organic fertiliser from household waste generates more income to vegetable farmers over 9,300 baht per family. It is a model of the circular economy for social and environment sustainable development.
Through its concrete actions and long-term commitment, CKPower remains firmly committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with innovation serving as a key driver of its sustainability strategy. The company has developed training programmes on innovation for sustainability and social innovation, which are being implemented across its power plants and surrounding communities to support its sustainability goals throughout the renewable energy value chain.
CKPower aims to achieve 100% renewable energy consumption within its operations by 2043, with more than 95% of its installed capacity to be from renewables. It also prioritises community engagement, human rights, and ethical business conduct, while fostering inclusive and sustainable development.
