Canberra musician CJ Shaw is on Saturday launching his album All Sorts with two shows at the Belconnen Arts Centre.
The 4pm show is sold out but tickets are still available for the 7pm performance.
Since his song ANZAC Biscuits attracted more than 30,000 views on social media in 2019, and he scored an ARIA nomination for Music Teacher of the Year in 2020, CJ Shaw has been busily recording All Sorts, which has been dubbed the "ultimate family album".
The album includes his song Ain't Many Like Lennie, about the boy who rode his horse to the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The whimsical video to Ain't Many Like Lennie has also been picked up by SBS, debuting at 5.30pm on May 8.
"If in 10 years my kids ask me if I was ever cool, I'll be able to say, 'Yes, I had a song on SBS' and that's all I'll ever need," he said, with a laugh.
CJ says he hopes parents bring their kids to Saturday's concerts, maybe the first time they've been to a theatre show, a chance to dress up and enjoy the rite of passage.
The album was supported by artsACT and recorded in 2020, its launch delayed by the COVID lockdowns in the past.
