Civil society representatives will walk with Rahul Gandhi to highlight various issues in Telangana: Madhu Yashki Goud

HYDERABAD: Representatives from over 25 civil society organisations will participate in the Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi in Telangana and submit representations to highlight the issues being faced by the cross-section of society.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will enter Telangana at Makthal constituency on October 23. He is expected to take a two-day break for Diwali and resume his walkathon on October 26. His pada yatra is likely to cover 360-km for 13 to 15 days in the state.

All India Congress campaign committee state chairman Madhu Yashki Goud held a meeting with members of various civil society organisations in Hyderabad on Monday. Women in large numbers will also engage with the walkathon of Rahul Gandhi in the state. Social activist Yogendra Yadav among others attended the meeting.

Representatives of various civil society, non-governmental and welfare associations including that of women, farmers, transgenders, minorities, Dalits, labourers, trade unions, OBCs, education and health, academicians, intellectuals, said they would participate and interact with Rahul Gandhi but made it clear that engaging with the Bharat Jodo Yatra does not mean supporting the Congress or having any electoral implications.

It is mainly to show solidarity with the specific objectives of the yatra which aims at uniting the country. Office bearers of various organisations will bring different issues to the notice of the people and the leaders of the yatra. And that the people's organizations will also not shy away from raising tough questions or issues before the leaders.

Madhu Yashki Goud said several more organisations and association members have evinced interest to walk along with Rahul Gandhi to highlight various issues and seek an assurance what the Congress will do, if voted to power in the state and at the centre.
