City of London police officer appears in court charged with two counts of rape

A City of London police officer has appeared in court accused of rape.

PC Daniel Condon has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of actual bodily harm, City of London Police said in a statement on Monday.

He appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, when a trial date was set for Monday, February 3 next year.

"The charges relate to allegations made against the officer while he was off duty on Saturday, May 14, 2022," said Detective Superintendent Carly Humphreys, Head of Professional Standards Department at City of London Police."The officer was immediately suspended following his arrest.”

The news comes after another London police officer was charged with rape at the weekend.

Off-duty Metropolitan Police constable Andrej Sagaidak - still working in his probation period in a south east policing team - was arrested after the alleged offence at a home in Islington on Monday.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday accused of two counts of rape, non-fatal strangulation and causing actual bodily harm. He will remain on remand before reappearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, February 2.
