A Liverpool city centre bar has lost its controversial application to stay open until 4am over concerns around public nuisance.
Management at Liberte Bar on Brunswick Street had hoped to vary its licence to extend its current opening hours from 2am. Liverpool Council ’s licensing and gambling sub-committee has now rejected the proposal a week on from a lengthy hearing.
In its decision, the sub-committee said it felt “as there is currently an issue with public nuisance caused by customers leaving the premises, allowing the premises to open later would increase this problem.” The three-strong committee heard last week how the management of the bar, which occupies the second floor and rooftop of the premises on Brunswick Street, had offered to change its application to stay open until 3am following discussions with residents.
