Citing asylum expenses, Karnataka high court raises relief for victim’s relatives by Rs 14 lakh

BENGALURU: The Dharwad bench of the high court has enhanced the compensation amount in an accident case by Rs 14,08,712, while placing reliance upon various documents, including one showing that the deceased was paying Rs 8,800 a month towards the maintenance of his mentally challenged son.

The family members of the deceased, Vijay Jumnalkar, will now receive Rs 21,82,800 with 6% interest as against the Rs 7,74,088 compensation awarded by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Belagavi.
