Citi, ShopeePay team for top-up service

The quick transfer service aims to accelerate digital banking for corporate and institutional clients.

Citi Thailand has partnered with ShopeePay to launch a quick transfer service on the platform for convenient and secure payments.

The move aims to accelerate digital banking services for corporate and institutional clients.

Customers with a ShopeePay mobile wallet can top up their e-wallet by transferring the amount directly from their mobile banking app, and they can track or repeat their transactions.

This new service fits modern consumer behaviour and is part of Citi's strategy to accelerate its digital banking services with partners such as ShopeePay, said Patrick O'Neill, head of treasury and trade solutions at Citibank Thailand.

The move also allows Citi to tap into Shopee's large user base across the country and offer customers more convenience, said Mr O'Neill.

He said the partnership with ShopeePay can create new top-up options for customers.

"We are observing interactions between companies and their customers as well as with partner companies within their ecosystems are increasingly becoming digital in nature," said Mr O'Neill.

"In the digital world, the client experience and a well-designed customer journey can drive differentiation and competitive advantage."

He said as part of Citi's long-term commitment to the Thai market, the company is looking forward to additional investments that will improve its capabilities to co-create new financial services with its clients.

"Citibank is committed to improving and offering the best services to reflect its position as a leading global bank trusted by corporate and institutional customers," said Mr O'Neill.

Supawit Hongamornsin, director of ShopeePay (Thailand) Co, said Citibank's goal aligns with Shopee's vision of empowering people with technology.

As Thai users become more familiar with mobile wallets, ShopeePay is committed to bringing them greater convenience, security and rewarding payment experiences, he said.

This integration with Citi brings a greater level of seamlessness for users as they can top up their e-wallet using quick transfer service in addition to mBanking, iBanking and linking bank accounts via the Shopee application, Mr Supawit said.
