The Cincinnati Bengals defence broke an NFL record with the game-defining touchdown to defeat their most fierce rival Baltimore Ravens.
On the two-yard line, quarterback Tyler Huntley had the ball and attempted to break the plane to score a touchdown by jumping over the Ravens defensive linemen upfront. But Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson was wise to the move as he jumped up with Huntley and was able to punch the ball out of his hands with the ball on the ground.
Bengals defensive lineman Sam Hubbard was first to the ball, and was able to pick it up and run it 98 yards, almost the entire length of the field to return it for a touchdown.
It was a 14-point swing, with the Ravens just inches from going up by seven points, to down by seven, and that was enough to seal the victory for the home team.
NFL Research on Twitter confirmed that it was the longest go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter in playoff history, whilst also being the longest fumble return touchdown in the postseason.
It was a close back and forth game between the AFC North division rivals, with Ravens performing valiantly with back-up quarterback Tyler Huntley, who started with Lamar Jackson not available for selection.
The Ravens have hoped to have had Jackson back weeks ago, but the quarterback had declared himself out and stated his knee is still in pain, in a strange standoff between him and the team.
More interestingly, Jackson did not travel with the team to Cincinnati for the playoffs - an unusual situation for a leader not to travel with the team in a postseason outing.
Jackson is set to become a free agent this off-season, and was frustrated last summer at not being given a long-term contract by Baltimore, with the two parties failing to come to an agreement.
The emergence of Huntley may give the Ravens an interesting decision, who has shown himself to be an extremely competent starting quarterback, and now has years of experience in the offense with the team.
But he is also set to become a free agent, and will likely garner interest elsewhere, with a number of teams looking for a quarterback this off-season.
For the Bengals, they will now face the Buffalo Bills in next weeks playoffs, with the Kansas City Chiefs facing the Jacksonville Jaguars in the other AFC meeting.
