Fresh off his award-winning night at the 2024 Oscars, Cillian Murphy, known for his role in Oppenheimer, is set to lead a Versace campaign. The luxury fashion brand has announced that Murphy will be the first face of the men’s Versace Icons collection. The campaign will feature the Irish actor in key and timeless pieces from the men’s Icons collection.
Donatella Versace, the brand’s creative director, expressed her excitement about Murphy joining the Versace family. She praised his recent Oscar win and his captivating presence in front of the camera. Versace highlighted Murphy's magnetic appeal and his ability to bring Versace to life.
While this campaign marks Murphy's first official collaboration with Versace, he has previously worn the brand during the awards season. At the Oscars, Murphy donned a classic and elegant custom Atelier Versace suit, showcasing his impeccable style.
During the awards season, Murphy also sported an Oppenheimer-inspired brooch from Sauvereign, a design house based in Hong Kong. The brooch's design seemed to pay homage to Murphy's role as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the film.
Murphy recently concluded a successful award season with his portrayal of Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s film, which earned him the prestigious Oscar for best actor. The actor expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the significance of the movie to him.
Oppenheimer was not the only winner of the night, as the Universal Pictures film secured seven awards, including best picture. Christopher Nolan received the best director award, and Murphy’s co-star, Robert Downey Jr., was honored with the best supporting actor award.
Versace is gearing up to launch the Versace Icons campaign on April 3, showcasing Cillian Murphy as the face of their men’s collection.
