Popstar Ciara, who is also the wife of Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, was a guest on the PBS show Finding Your Roots and discovered she was related to a sports icon.
Host Henry Louis Gates Jr. prompted Ciara to open the booklet that contained the information of who she was related to. Ciara was shocked to learn that she’s distantly related to New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.
The singer instantly blurted out “What the world!?” when she first saw Jeter’s picture. Gates then explained how Jeter is her DNA cousin.
“You are kidding me. That’s crazy,” Ciara continued.
Her husband Wilson tweeted the video out and joked how this news wasn’t a surprise to him.
“Always knew it! @Yankees Captain!” Wilson wrote.

Ciara also tweeted about her experience on the show.
