CIAL deploys robotic assistance for passenger convenience and travel ease

Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) introduced robotic assistance service at the Cochin International airport as a measure to enhance passenger convenience and ease of travel.

According to a statement released by the company, in its first phase of introduction, deployed a passenger assistance robot at ‘Kalangan,’ the art museum located in the Domestic Security Hold Area on Saturday.

CIAL Managing Director S Suhas IAS inaugurated the service, the release said.

The robot will welcome passengers, offer directions, real-time flight information and guidance to the boarding gates and other airport facilities.

It can also provide travel-related assistance, which would include information on CIAL services, flight schedules, and gate numbers.

The robot will also showcase Kerala’s cultural heritage, offering information on traditional art forms such as Kathakali and Ottanthullal, along with sculptures and artworks displayed at ‘Kalangan’.

It will also direct passengers to the relevant exhibits.

CIAL plans to deploy passenger assistance robots in the airport’s check-in halls in the next phase, company officials said.

The airport operator is also exploring the use of delivery robots to bring food and other products directly to passengers inside the terminal.

Pune-based Kinetics Robotics developed the robot for CIAL.
