Chelsea have confirmed their 2022/23 squad numbers hinting at the roles Carney Chukwuemeka, Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja will play this season.
Carney Chukwuemeka became the Blues fourth summer signing after completing a £20million move from Aston Villa this week. The 18-year-old starlet joined Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Gabriel Slonina in moving to Stamford Bridge, with the latter returning to Chicago Fire on-loan until January to continue his development.
Broja and Gallagher returned to the Chelsea squad this summer following loan spells with Southampton and Crystal Palace respectively last term. The Albanian forward was linked with a move to Premier League rivals West Ham but Thomas Tuchel convinced Broja to stay and is expected to challenge for a starting spot in the first team this season.
