Chuffed Ange Postecoglou reminds Celtic where they've come from and waxes lyrical over 'outstanding' star turn

Delighted Ange Postecoglou waxed lyrical about star man James Forrest as he saluted the team ethos behind their ongoing title charge.

The Scotland international was back to his best and netted for a 13th consecutive season in the Scottish Premiership en route to a 3-1 win over Livingston.

And his 56-year-old boss was delighted with his side's display in the convincing victory that keeps them three points clear of Rangers.

The Australian lauded the gritty nature of the team effort that banished a 15-year wait for a result in West Lothian.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Postecoglou said: "Yeah, very pleasing, We kind of know it's a difficult place to come and win, more importantly, I thought we played really well.

"We were dominant from the first minute, we still kept our patterns, created good chances, they were always a threat from set pieces but that was really the only threat.

"They are a big side so it always going to be a bit of a challenge for us but I thought we handled it well.

"The key is to approach each game, every challenge, in the same way, and that is what we do.

"We kind of knew, it was a difficult venue, difficult opponent, we still thought the answers lay in playing our football. A good energy, a good tempo."

Postecoglou was quick to talk up the collective in the wake of his side's endeavours but even he couldn't help but extol the virtues of Forrest.

The Celtic boss busted out the adjectives, as he also talked up the efforts of Tom Rogic and Anthony Ralston alongside the Scotland star.

He added: "Yeah, brilliant, he's been working hard, as I said all along, we've put together a strong squad, people who can contribute, I thought James, Tommy (Rogic), Tony Ralston, gave us the energy, it's three games in the week, I thought that would help us.

"I thought James was outstanding, he took his goal well but I thought he played well as well.

"I think we've got our first midweek off since the start of the year, the programme changes a bit, but having a strong squad helps us, it means our level of training will be of a high standard and that will prepare us for what's ahead.

And Postecoglou was keen to take a trip down memory lane as he pointed to how far his side have come since the start of the season.

Celtic remarkably suffered their third league defeat of the season six matches back in September, however, they are undefeated since.

He said: "I just think, they're a really resilient mob.

"The last time we left here, we were in sixth spot, it goes to show you, they, right from the start, even though they were difficult beginnings, this group of players, whatever challenge they had they've overcome and continue to overcome."
