Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is set to release a new book titled 'Antisemitism in America' on February 18 next year. The book, published by Grand Central Publishing, will delve into Schumer's personal experiences and religious beliefs as he addresses the pressing issue of antisemitism in the United States.
In the upcoming book, Schumer will reflect on his life journey from growing up in Brooklyn in the 1960s to attending Harvard in the '70s, and his subsequent years in Washington, culminating in the events of the January 6 siege in 2021. He will also discuss the recent surge in conspiracy theories targeting Jews, along with the rise in attacks against synagogues and Jewish students.
Expressing his concerns, Schumer emphasized the importance of understanding the historical context of antisemitism to prevent its escalation into violence and bigotry within society. He warned that failing to address antisemitism could lead to dire consequences, citing the vulnerability of Jewish Americans to such threats.
Referencing a quote by Irish writer Conor Cruise O’Brien, Schumer highlighted the persistent nature of antisemitism, stating that it is a threat that must not be underestimated. This forthcoming book aims to shed light on the dangers posed by antisemitism and the need for vigilance in combating such prejudices.
Prior to this publication, Schumer co-authored 'Positively American: Winning Back the Middle Class One Family at a Time' in 2007, showcasing his commitment to addressing societal issues through his writing.
