Celtic have opened talks with Bayern Munich youngster Christopher Scott, according to reports in Germany.
But they face competition from Premier League side Brentford for the talented attacking midfielder.
19-year-old Scott joined Bayern from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 but has struggled to make the jump into the first team.
He made two appearances towards the end of last season but hasn't been named in a senior squad for almost a year.
Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg claims the club are keen to keep him beyond the end of his deal, which expires in the summer.
It's claimed they have the option to do that but Scott is desperate to play regular football, and it's reported he has held talks with Celtic and Brentford in a bid to do just that.
The pathway between Celtic and Bayern is open after Liam Morrison made the move in the other direction in 2019 while Barry Hepburn did the same a year later.
Morrison is a current teammate of Scott's at Bayern's B-team while Morrison made the jump up to under-19 level in the summer.
The news comes as Celtic look to invert the unwelcome trend of losing their top young players to major European clubs.
16-year-old Ben Doak is close to joining Liverpool while Morrison and Hepburn are on a long list of stars such as Leo Hjelde (Leeds), Liam Hughes (Liverpool) and Josh Adam (Manchester City) who have left to test themselves in the big leagues.
A potential deal for Scott would see the talent move in the other direction with Ange Postecoglou stocking up on top quality youngsters to build for the future.
The Australian signed Irish starlet Johnny Kenny in January while he has given homegrown teenagers such as Dane Murray, Adam Montgomery and more recently Karamoko Dembele their chance this season.
