Christopher Nkunku makes 'flattered' transfer admission amid Manchester United interest

Christopher Nkunku has admitted he’s been ‘flattered’ by the transfer interest shown in him amid reports linking him with Manchester United.

Nkunku is one of the big names being linked with a move this summer after enjoying a stellar season with RB Leipzig. The 24-year-old scored 35 goals in all competitions as he was named the Bundesliga’s player of the season ahead of Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski.

A number of sides have been linked with the French international, including United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Leipzig, though, have made their intentions clear to try and keep hold of their prize asset, who is under contract until 2024.

Nkunku though looks to be entertaining the interest in him this summer. The forward told French media outlet Telefoot he will weigh up his options amid interest from some big clubs.

“It's no secret. There are clubs interested in me,” Nkunku said. “Yes it's flattering, but it's also flattering to have a club like Leipzig do everything to keep me as well.

“I'll have to reflect well and make a decision. The World Cup is on the way and that's another factor to take into account.”

Asked how he would react if his former club PSG made an approach, he added: “Like I've said, I'll simply have to reflect on it.”

Recent reports in France have suggested United are interested in signing Nkunku this summer as Erik ten Hag begins his rebuild at Old Trafford. United are on the lookout for new forwards, among other areas in the squad that are in need of bolstering.

Leipzig are said to have no intention of selling Nkunku this summer. The Bundesliga club’s director Oliver Mintzlaff insisted earlier this year they are not open to letting him go.
