Christopher Nkunku appears to have said goodbye to his RB Leipzig fans in a social media message posted by the Frenchman. The 25-year-old is set to join Chelsea this summer, though no announcement has yet been made.
The German side finished the season in style with a 2-0 cup final win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday with Nkunku opening the scoring in what is expected to be his last game for the club. Whilst supporters of both Chelsea and Leipzig are aware of his situation, there is yet to be official confirmation from either club.
Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl was coy on the move when asked last week about Nkunku's impending departure to London, simply saying: "He could be." It was only in January that he went much further, admitting: "The signs are very, very clear that he's moving to Chelsea."

Now, the player himself has taken this to the next level, all but bidding farewell to the Leipzig fans. In a post on Instagram, the Bundesliga top scorer wrote: "So good to have shared these moments with you all [red heart, white heart]."
After 172 games he is leaving on a high having scored 16 times in an injury hit campaign. Despite that, nobody in Germany scored more than his tally, with six assists to show for a solid season that saw his side finish third, five points off the 71 points that won Bayern Munich the league.
It was his 2021/22 form that truly saw Nkunku grab the attention of Europe's biggest sides. With 20 goals and 15 assists he exploded onto the market and started to get enquiries over his availability in the summer. Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea were one of the interested teams but saw their attempts ended when he penned a new four year deal.
Just three months on and the Blues reached an agreement with Leipzig over a £52m ($64.4m) pre-agreement which would see him join this summer. Since then much has changed with Tuchel sacked, his successor, Graham Potter, has also been and gone and now it is Mauricio Pochettino that will be managing Nkunku.
Despite the changes at SW6, fans are excited to see a player of Nkunku's calibre move to the club, especially after years of attacking struggles.
