Christopher Jullien has told Celtic he’s ready to stay and fight for his place this season.
The £7million French centre-back is fully fit again after more than a year out with a knee injury.
He returned to Ange Postecoglou ’s squad in February but struggled for game-time, unable to shift first-choice defensive pair Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt.
The Parkhead club are ready to listen to offers for the 29-year-old, who was signed by ex-gaffer Neil Lennon from Toulouse in 2019.
But Record Sport understands they’ve received no concrete bids so far for the defender.
And after a meeting with his representatives in Paris last week, Jullien has told Postecoglou he’s ready to fight for his future this term.
If Celtic don’t offload him this summer they run the risk of losing him on a free transfer next year.
But after returning to fitness, the door could still be open for Jullien to make an impact for the champions.
Starfelt returned from international duty with Sweden last week nursing a hamstring injury and could miss the start of pre-season.
Jullien has been training on his own before returning to Lennoxtown with the rest of Postecoglou’s squad.
Meanwhile, Celtic are still chasing Argentine left-back Alexandro Bernabei.
The 21-year-old is one of the names on Postecoglou’s wanted list but his club Lanus value him at around £4 million.
Record Sport understands Celtic are keen to land Bernabei for around half of that fee and reports in Argentina suggested a deal could be close.
Postecoglou is in the market for a left-back to provide competition to Scotland’s Greg Taylor.
The Argentine Under-23 international has attracted interest from around Europe, which includes Celtic, but a spokesperson for Lanus said: “If a suitable proposition arrives, we will study it.
“But at this moment, we aren’t not required to sell Alexandro.”
The player’s agency in Argentina, Oller Group, confirmed there is interest in Bernabei.
A spokesperson said: “We expect news in the next few weeks but Alexandro is calm.
“He has the ability to play and be successful in Europe.
“Now is not the time to discuss names but clubs are asking about him.”
