Christopher Jullien facing Celtic transfer limbo with 'no serious' interest after Schalke collapse

Christopher Jullien faces a Celtic transfer limbo with his future unclear with the summer transfer window moving closer to completion.

The £ 7 million Frenchman is out of the picture under Ange Postecoglou after failing to impress following his lengthy absence through injury. He returned to training earlier this year but has been unable to land game-time in the Hoops' top team. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt struck up a solid partnership with Mortiz Jenz joining this summer. Stephen Welsh is also ahead of him in the pecking order at Parkhead.

The 29-year-old was close to leaving earlier this summer after flying out to Germany to hold talks with Bundesliga side Schalke. But the move broke down with the big stopper returning to Lennoxtown without his transfer. Jullien has been training with the first-team but hasn't been involved against Aberdeen or Ross County with Welsh starting on flag day and opening the scoring in the season opener. Jenz was then given the nod in Dingwall with Welsh out through illness. Like Welsh, he found the back of the net as Celtic picked up a big three points.

Football Scotland reports that no club has registered any serious interest in the defender - who is still hopeful he can find a solution before the window slams shut.

If nothing materialises, he could find himself frozen out until January at the earliest.

Jullien, who joined Celtic under former boss Neil Lennon, is in the final 12 months of his deal at the Scottish champions.

If he doesn't move on this summer he could pen a pre-contract with any interested party come the New Year.
