Big Finish has announced an exciting crossover in the next Doctor Who audio drama box-set release, revealing that Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor and Alex Kingston's River Song will meet for the first time. Eccleston, who brought the Doctor back to screens in 2005, has reprised his role through various audio dramas since 2021. On the other hand, Kingston's River Song made her debut in the 2008 two-part story 'Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead' and became a significant character during Steven Moffat's tenure.
The upcoming box set, titled Doctor Who - The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Star-Crossed, will feature three adventures where the Ninth Doctor encounters River Song. Eccleston and Kingston shared their thoughts on this unique dynamic, with Eccleston mentioning the rewarding experience of revisiting his character and interacting with extraordinary beings like River. Kingston expressed the challenge of stepping into Eccleston's Doctor's energy and the fun in engaging with him.
