Christophe Soumillon finished third on Order Of Australia as Annapolis landed the Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday night.
The Belgian jockey partnered the Aidan O'Brien-trained runner, who was sent off at 6/1, in the Grade 1 contest at the Kentucky track.
But it was three-year-old Annapolis who triumphed against older horses in the $1 million race, beating runner-up Ivar by a length and a half, with Order Of Australia beaten half a neck for second.

Trained by New York-based handler Todd Pletcher, Annapolis now looks set to take his chance in the Breeders' Cup Mile next month.
Soumillon's ride on Order Of Australia came just over a week after he elbowed Galway jockey Rossa Ryan off his mount in France, resulting in him being handed a 60-day ban from France Galop.
The 41-year-old was also sacked by the Aga Khan following the incident at Saint-Cloud.
