A Christmas savings group founded by former Everton FC and Tranmere Rovers owner Peter Johnson is to be bought by PayPoint in a £83m deal.

Liverpool-headquartered Appreciate Group, whose brands include Love2shop, highstreetvounchers.com, Park Christmas Savings and Appreciate Business Services, was known as Park Group until 2019. It was best known for its Christmas hampers but has long diversified into a wider range of savings products.

After the news was announced this morning, shares in the AIM-listed group jumped by more than 50% to trade at their highest hevel since March 2020.
