It might seem like Christmas is a long way off yet, but supermarkets have started preparing for the busy festive season.
Some major supermarkets have already opened their Christmas delivery slots and it looks like the demand is high this year as bookings are already selling out.
But there's no need to worry just yet as plenty of other supermarkets are set to release their slots in the coming days and weeks.
Customers will be able to plan ahead by securing their ideal slots well in advance of Christmas, but are being urged to book as soon as possible.
Here's the exact dates that the main supermarkets will be taking bookings for Christmas delivery slots.
Can I book a Christmas delivery slot at Asda?
Asda opened their bookings for Food to Order, Christmas delivery and collection spots on October 18 for Delivery Pass customers.
If you don't have a delivery pass then you'll need to wait until October 25 to reserve your slot.
Christmas delivery slots will be available between December 20 to 23 and collection slots are also available to book.
However, it's worth noting that the supermarket will be closing its Christmas Food to Order bookings on December 15.
When can I book a Christmas slot at Morrisons?
Morrisons gave delivery pass customers early access to Christmas delivery slots on October 19 but the supermarket will soon be opening up its booking system to all shoppers.
Regular customers will be able to book a Christmas delivery slot at Morrisons from October 26.
Their Christmas delivery dates are between Tuesday, December 20 and Friday, December 23 but any edits to your order must be completed by 23.55pm the night before your delivery is due.
When will Sainsbury's Christmas delivery slots be available?
Sainsbury's Christmas delivery slots already opened for Delivery Pass customers on October 17.
More slots are now opening up to regular customers in daily batches for deliveries between December 18 to 24.
Slots for deliveries between December 18 and 21 are already open and the next release dates include:
- October 25 for delivery on December 22
- October 26 for delivery on December 23
- October 27 for delivery on December 24
The last day that you can book a Christmas delivery slot at Sainsbury's is December 16 by midnight.
When are Tesco Christmas slots released?
Tesco hasn't opened up bookings for its Christmas delivery slots yet but confirmed that Christmas bookings will open in November.
Delivery Saver customers will be able to book a Christmas delivery slot from 6am on November 15, whole non-Delivery Saver customers will have to wait until 6am on November 22 to be able to book their slots.
Tesco's Christmas delivery dates are between December 20 to 23, with December 24 delivery or Click+Collect being available at selected stores.
Does Ocado have any Christmas delivery slots?
Ocado also offers Christmas delivery slots, and while M&S doesn't offer delivery, customers can get their products delivered through Ocado.
Slots have already opened for Smart Pass customers, who got early access to Christmas delivery bookings if they signed up before September 25.
Ocado hasn't confirmed when regular customers will be able to book slots, but its website states that customers will receive an email or SMS text and will see a star for Christmas slots next to ‘Book a Delivery’ as soon as bookings become available.
It has also advised customers to book quickly, saying: "These slots get booked up really quickly, so we can’t guarantee everyone will get one. We recommend you book your slot as soon as you’re notified that slots are available for booking."
Waitrose
The Waitrose Christmas delivery slots are now open for booking but are selling out quick.
All slots for December 21 to December 24 are currently showing as either unavailable or sold out, but there are still a few slots available for December 20.
Each customer is limited to just two delivery slots for the Christmas period between December 20 and 24, Waitrose says that this is to meet demand and "ensure greater access to delivery slots for all our customers". It also asks customers to only book a second slot if "absolutely necessary".
Do Lidl and Aldi offer Christmas deliveries?
With the cost of living crisis impacting millions, many of us will be looking to cut the cost of our Christmas shop this year and one way to do that is by opting for lower budget supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl.
Unfortunately, Lidl does not offer home delivery or online orders.
However, Aldi does offer online orders and home delivery on some of its products, including Specialbuys and wine and spirits.
It hasn't announced their Christmas delivery slots yet but are expected to soon.
