A sophisticated taxi scam which allows criminals to steal passengers' banking details has left nearly 100 victims out of pocket for thousands of euro.
The elaborate scam, which is led by a crime gang based in Dublin, involves targeting unsuspecting victims on a night out, finding out their phone pin, and then giving them a lift home in a bogus taxi.
The fake taxi driver then steals their phone before criminals use the pin to clear the victims bank account - and have already managed to steal a suspected total of €300,000.
