Christine McGuinness gives update on Paddy's health after he undergoes surgery

Christine McGuiness shared an update after husband Paddy underwent surgery to fix his knee earlier this week.

The 48-year-old had to endure a gruelling six-month wait after sustaining an injury which saw him pull out of Soccer Aid 2021, but has now finally received treatment.

Wife Christine, 33, said the Take Me Out and Top Gear host is "absolutely fine" and even joked that he was taking advantage of his recovery for her sympathy.

Speaking to OK! Online, the Real Housewives of Cheshire star said: "He’s milking it, obviously, he’s a man, and he’s got to try and rest as much as possible.

"It’s an old injury and he’s just been waiting for some time off work to get it sorted, and he has done now, so he’s absolutely fine."

Paddy revealed on Wednesday that he had gone under the knife, saying it was "such a relief" following his lengthy wait.

Paddy shared a before and after photograph of his knee, with the latter showing his left leg wrapped up in a bandage.

The presenter and comedian explained that he had had an injury last year - but had to put having it fixed on hold after "managing on it" for six months.

Captioning the post he said: "before and after."

"Finally got my knee operation done! Been managing with it for 6 months, such a relief to finally get it sorted.

"Few days rest now, then we get this puppy moving! I had a torn lateral meniscus, along with a blue surgical sock. Both were removed successfully."

He shared another update to Twitter, giving advice to followers with a similar problem.

The TV star wrote: "The auld knee is slowly getting better.

"Hired this machine to help keep the swelling down.

"If you’ve had the same knee surgery (lateral meniscus tear) this really helps."

Friends and fans were quick to come to the support of the TV star.

They encouraged him to "do his exercises" and hoped his recovery would be quick.

"Had the same op 3 years ago, knees been awesome since, make sure you do your exercises and all will be perfect!" said one fan.

Another said: "Wishing you a quick recovery."

Meanwhile a third chimed in: "Literally had the same op done on the same day... different leg! Get well soon."

Paddy gave fans a second update on his Instagram stories, saying he was using his time off in hospital to catch up on TV he had missed.

"Been in hospital for a knee op, thought I'd use the time to catch up on Ozark," he told his following. "PS. I'm still slightly sedated."
