Christine McGuinness breaks silence over relationship status after 'date' night

Christine McGuinness has confirmed she's not going on romantic dates after hinting at a new love interest following her split from Paddy.

The star who previously appeared on The Real Housewives of Cheshire took to social media earlier in the week and announced that she was heading out on a "date" with a new man.

Shortly after her news, social media was whipped into a frenzy with many believing the mum-of-three has found love again with Duncan James since her split from Paddy McGuinness last year.

However, Christine has now confirmed that this is not the case and she has no plans on romantically dating any time soon.

She said: "You know it's a good night when you don’t take any photos.

"Loads of you are saying 'Oh we're so happy for you' that I was on a date.

"It was my mate, Duncan's my friend, Duncan's got a gorgeous partner and I love them both.

"But yeah, I was only taking the p**s when I said I was on a date."

She added: "I don't like dates, I don't do dates absolutely not, my voice keeps going I was talking all night.

"I laughed so much it was a really good night."

Prior to clarifying her relationship situation, Christine took to social media and said: "I'm just waiting for my date to arrive, here he is big D, everyone!" before Duncan appeared.

"Hey baby," he gushed as the pair greeted one another.

Christine later went on to share a snap of the pair and penned: "Buns and guns, planning with my soulmate @mrduncanjames you give me life."

She went on to reveal that they met while filming the Full Monty for ITV before adding: "Yes, I've seen it all!"

Duncan, who is openly gay, has been with his boyfriend, Brazilian photographer Rodrigo Reis since 2019. In the same year, he went on his first public date with a man on First Dates Hotel.

However, Duncan came out as bisexual in 2009 before coming out as gay in 2014.

Last week, Christine opened up to the Mirror about her love life moving forward and revealed that her future partner has to be similar to Paddy.

She said: "I was talking about this with a friend, actual dating I can’t think of anything worse and I think for an autistic person it is so much worse because the dating scene from what I’ve heard, you have to go into a restaurant, you're meeting someone you don't know, you're in a place that you might not have been to before.

"I don't drink so I wouldn’t go to a bar but I never really dated so going on dates for me is not something I want to do. I absolutely do not want to go on a date.

"When I met Patrick, I already knew him it was a slow burner so that just happened. I think once you're comfortable with someone, then you can do your dinner dates I need it to happen the other way round."
