Actress Christina Ricci has revealed she still shares a bed with her eight-year-old son Freddy after he became distressed during sleep-training when he was younger.
The 42-year-old revealed the detail about her homelife as she marvelled over her nine-month-old daughter Cleo being able to sleep in her crib.
The Yellowjackets star shared: “The fact that I can put her down in her crib and she just goes to sleep when my 8-year-old still sleeps with me is amazing.”
Explaining how Freddie was at his sister’s age, the film star said she had a tough time trying to sleep train him leaving her to change tact and find a solution that suited him.
She told PEOPLE: “He screamed himself hoarse and started banging his head against the crib railing…
“But with Cleo, when we decided to try it and see how she would react to it, she just sort of whined for about seven minutes and then laid down, clutched her little unicorn and went to sleep.”
The Sleepy Hallow actress shared that it was “like she was ready and she wanted to do it, and it was right for her”.
Ricci welcomed daughter Cleopatra with her husband Mark Hampton, who she married last October, in December.
Meanwhile, the screen star shares son Freddie with her ex-husband James Heerdegen, whom she divorced in 2020.
In January, Ricci was granted a domestic violence restraining order against Heerdegen, preventing him from visitation rights with their son or coming within 100 yards of her.
The actress isn’t the only star to have spoken about sharing their bed with their children recently.
Back in July, Alicia Silverstone revealed that she still shares a bed with her 11-year-old son Bear and she doesn’t care what other people think.
Appearing on The Ellen Fisher Podcast, she candidly discussed her parenting choices and her close bond with her son, who she shares with ex-husband Christopher Jarecki.
“Bear and I still sleep together,” Silverstone said. “I’ll be in trouble for saying that and I don’t really care.”
Offering an analogy, she explained: “If you were in any kind of wild setting where there are wild animals, if you put your baby over there your baby is going to get eaten. So it’s not ideal for the baby to be over there.”
Closer to home, Frankie Bridge revealed on Friday’s Loose Women that she sleeps in the same bed as her two boys, Parker and Carter.
The former Saturday’s singer, 33, even admitted to splashing out on a special bed that pulls out two mattresses, at either side of her and husband Wayne Bridge’s bed.
“I love it! One day they’re not going to want to sleep beside me or even be near me, so I’m lapping it all up. It’s lovely and I wouldn’t be able to sleep without them now,” she shared.
