Christian Pulisic told to seal immediate Chelsea transfer to fulfil USMNT prediction

Brad Friedel has lauded Christian Pulisic following his World Cup performances and suggested that the USMNT star could become the 'GOAT' of the national team if he can continue such form in the future.

The Chelsea winger produced a goal and two assists for the US as they progressed through the knockout rounds before being beaten by an impressive Netherlands side in the last-16. Gregg Berhalter's side were the youngest at the World Cup and progressed through the group stage, conceding just one goal in the process.

It was a positive showing from the team in their first World Cup for eight years and sets a strong foundation for their home World Cup which takes place in 2026. By then, Pulisic will be 27 years old and fans will expect the star to be in his prime as they hope to go further than this year's tournament and compete for the main prize.

Former USMNT goalkeeper Brad Friedel has suggested that the Pennsylvania born attacking midfielder is well on course to become one of the greatest players ever for the national team after his World Cup. Speaking to Online Casino, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa stopper said: "Christian Pulisic is staking a claim towards being the best US player of all time, although he’s got a way to go to get past Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey.

"Those two were at the top for a long time. Just because you have a big price tag, doesn’t mean you’ve achieved what those guys have yet, so he has a way to go. But he’s making a claim. He needs to keep scoring goals at international level, and then we’ll see at the end of his career.

"It’s like debating between Messi and Ronaldo, when you’re debating Donovan and Dempsey, they’re different players. I always thought Claudio Reyna was up there too. That would be my top three at the moment, but Weston McKennie could be in the conversation one day if he keeps improving."

Despite the positivity which has come Pulisic's way following the World Cup, it has not been the most positive spell of his career at club level, with the Chelsea man only having made three starts for his club side this season. This, Friedel suggests, should be a catalyst for Pulisic to seek a move to earn more game time if he is to fulfil his potential.

He continued: "If Chelsea aren’t choosing Pulisic, then I think he should move elsewhere because he’s good enough to play somewhere."
