Christian McCaffrey’s Laughable Flop Against the Eagles Had Even the Ref Shaking His Head

Christian McCaffrey’s hilarious flop attempt during Sunday’s showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles didn’t fool anyone.

The Niners’ star running back had been wrapped up by Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox with the play blown dead. But as Cox let go, McCaffrey spun himself to the ground, seemingly trying to bait a penalty for a late hit from the officiating crew.

The move elicited plenty of laughter from Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen in the Fox broadcast booth, and even the official shared a laugh with McCaffrey over the failed flop as he told the running back he wouldn’t be drawing a call.

Certainly not an Oscar-winning performance.

The Niners wouldn’t end up needing those 15 extra yards anyway. San Francisco outgained Philadelphia 456–333, with McCaffrey accounting for 133 of those and one of six 49er touchdowns in the 42–19 victory.

Fans on social media had plenty of jokes about the incident.
