Christian Horner denies 'derailing' lucrative 'Spice Girls TV project' amid own documentary reports

Christian Horner has denied that he is to blame for “derailing” a lucrative “Spice Girls TV project”.

His wife Geri, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B, were all reportedly approached about a drama series by the team behind hit Netflix show The Crown that could have seen them each pocket £1m.

According to insiders, talks were going well until Geri decided to back out of her involvement in the project.

A source said: “It would have seen five actresses taking on the roles of Posh, Ginger, Scary, Sporty and Baby.

“The venture would have landed them all pay deals of around £1million for essentially not lifting a finger.

“But as the negotiations ramped up, the others were told Geri had objected. The plans have basically been thrown out.”

They added to The Sun that without the agreement of Geri, it would be difficult to make the project happen.

It comes amid rumours that Geri and the Formula 1 boss have been approached to make a “really personal” fly-on-the-wall TV series - something that he denies.

He told the PA news agency: “There is a lot being written about different things, but there are absolutely no plans to do a family documentary.

“Netflix do enough, and you see enough of the behind-the-scenes on that. So where that report has come from, I have absolutely no idea.”

It would be a further blow for fans of the Wannabe hit-makers as Geri was also said to have pulled the plug on plans for a new Spice Girls reunion tour following an ongoing feud with Mel B.

Even Victoria Beckham - who has largely disassociated herself from the group after relaunching herself as a fashion designer - was said to potentially be onboard for a cameo appearance.

The Standard has contacted representatives for all five Spice Girls for comment.
