Manchester United summer signings Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez both made their first appearances for the club in a behind-closed-doors friendly against National League outfit Wrexham.

United and Wrexham agreed to play a behind-closed-doors match at Carrington on Wednesday as the two sides gear up for their new seasons next week.

The Manchester Evening News understand that both Eriksen and Martinez started for Erik ten Hag's side in the match, which kicked off at 2pm BST, with the Denmark international netting a goal on his unofficial debut.

It is understood that Raphael Varane is another senior player to be taking part in the match at Carrington as United utilise the opportunity to build fitness ahead of their Premier League opener against Brighton.

Eriksen and Martinez could both feature for United this weekend when they play two friendly matches in the space of two days with clashes against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.

United confirmed the signing of Martinez on Wednesday afternoon an hour before he took to the field with his new teammates against Wrexham.

United agreed a fee of £46.8million, rising to £55.3m, for Martinez on a five-year contract, plus an extra optional year.
