Manchester United ace Christian Eriksen has disagreed with Paul Scholes' assessment of the Red Devils midfield and insisted it is the best one he has ever been a part of.
Earlier this month, the United legend was scathing in his review of two midfielders currently at Old Trafford in particular. Scott McTominay and Fred were the unlucky pair to feel the full force of Scholes' wrath following a 2-0 home win over Everton.
The pair were both given the nod to start by manager Erik ten Hag as Casemiro was ruled out due to a suspension. Eriksen was actually on the bench that day as part of the squad for the time since his serious knee injury sustained back in January after a brutal tackle from Reading's Andy Carroll.
Scholes could barely contain his excitement over the thought of Casemiro and Eriksen's return, which in itself is an insight into what he thinks of McTominay and Fred.
"I think Eriksen especially is more creative, although Casemiro has chipped in with goals as well as passes through to the final third but I think Eriksen sees more, he’s on the half-turn more," the former United star told BT Sport.
"You looked earlier in the season when it was Scott and Fred playing together - it was almost a waste of time having forward players because they were never facing the right way, never willing to play forward, never willing to take risks. But now with Eriksen coming back it’s a big boost."

Though Eriksen was actually the subject of praise from Scholes, the Dane clearly thinks more of his fellow midfielders, including McTominay and Fred if his most recent comments are anything to go by.
Speaking ahead of United's Europa League quarter-final second-leg showdown with Sevilla, Eiksen boldly declared that the current crop of Red Devils midfielders are the best he has ever been a part of.
"I think this midfield is one of the best I've been part of, obviously earlier in my career I was a bit further up the pitch so I was even more of a striker than a midfielder but still dropping down of course," Eriksen explained.
United's number 14 continued by addressing Bruno Fernandes' absence in Spain as a result of his suspension for picking up too many yellow cards in the competition.
"I think midfield-wise it's one of the best I've been in, missing Bruno it will be like when I was away and somebody else had to pick my duties up.
"It will be the same for Bruno, someone is going to pick up the gap that he is leaving behind."
