Christa Pike laughed and even sang a traditional Buddhist chant in the execution chamber Wednesday night as the state of Tennessee failed in its attempt to put her to death, according to an eyewitness.
Pike, 50, remains alive but in a critical condition, her lawyer Randy Spivey said Thursday, after she survived two doses of pentobarbital during an attempt to execute her at a Nashville maximum security prison.
