Chris Wood has made history after he was named as October’s 2024 Premier League Player of the Month.
Wood scored four times in his three appearances and he is only behind a certain Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.
Nobody netted more times than Wood which led to him picking up the prestigious award. The 32-year-old carried on where he left off against West Ham on November 2 when he scored the opener in a 3-0 win.

Chris Wood Named Player Of The Month
Chris Wood winning the Premier League Player of the Month means he is the first Nottingham Forest player and New Zealander to win the prize.
The striker topped an eight-man shortlist to land the award. Forest went unbeaten in October against Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Leicester as they rose to third in the Premier League.
On Sunday, Wood will be back in action as the Tricky Trees take on Newcastle United. Last season, Wood scored a stunning hat-trick in a 3-1 win at St James’ Park.
Since manager Nuno Espirito Santo took charge in December 2023, Wood has fired home 18 non-penalty goals. That tally is equal to Erling Haaland.
To date, Wood has netted 77 goals in 237 English top-flight appearances. The Auckland-born striker has never scored more than 14 times in a single season. A feat which he is very much on course to break this year.
“It’s just a credit to all of us, how the team’s working. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

“I’m over the moon with it. It’s a fantastic achievement,” Wood said after picking up his award at Forest’s training ground on Friday morning.
“It’s a credit to all of us and how the team’s working. I couldn’t have done it without them. They supply me with all the chances, so it’s nice that I’ve been able to tuck them away for them.”
It wasn’t just Wood whose efforts were recognised. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo was named as the Premier League Manager of the Month.
The Portuguese gaffer has now claimed the prize an impressive five times. He won three whilst in charge of Wolves and once during his tenure at Tottenham.
A double boost going into Sunday’s clash, the best football betting sites make Forest the 15/8 match favourites ahead of the visit of Eddie Howe’s side.
