Chris Wood showed his class after the final whistle by applauding all four sides of Turf Moor - despite being a target of some of the boo boys.
Wood felt he did not get the chance to goodbye to Burnley fans after half a decade of service at Turf Moor. His photographs still remain on the walls in some rooms at the famous old ground.
The £25million signing from Burnley back in January came on the final throes of the 2-1 win in Lancashire and was jeered on to the field by large sections of the home crowd. With some Burnley supporters still angry about his January window exit, when Newcastle activated the clause to sign him on a permanent basis, Wood's return to Turf Moor coincided with their relegation.

However, on a day in which Newcastle recorded their only double success of the Premier League season by beating Burnley home and away, the post-mortem on the Clarets' relegation was quickly under way after the final whistle with Roy Keane blaming the sacking of Sean Dyche for their drop back to the Championship.
Wood will enjoy Premier League football again next season with the substitute appearance his first game since returning from a hip injury. On a day that many had feared ugly scenes and possible pitch invasions both sets of players were able to show appreciation to the fans.
Newcastle players applauded the away end on their way back to the tunnel while some YouTube channels were debating whether the Toon Army had seen Matt Ritchie for the final time in a black and white shirt. Ritchie gave nothing away as he left Turf Moor and players departed for a well-earned summer break.
