Chris Sutton reckons Neil Banfield has put Michael Beale under even more pressure with his eyebrow-raising comments about Ange Postecoglou.
Rangers coach Banfield dug Postecoglou out for something he said in the wake of the Viaplay Cup final but wouldn't say what comments he was referring to. That led to pouring over of the Celtic boss' post match spiel but none of it seemed inflammatory and it's yet to be revealed which 'one or two' comments left Beale's coach miffed.
Banfield said Postecoglou's words have Rangers out for revenge when they face off in the Scottish Cup this Sunday. And Sutton, speaking on the Record Celtic Podcast, couldn't believe what he was hearing. He said: “Does anyone actually know what comments he is talking about? I think Michael Beale should keep some of his staff in check. This is the same guy who compared Beale to Nagelsmann and Pochettino.
“Beale is no doubt a talented coach, but going into management, that is a huge shout. He might go on to become one of the greatest managers the world has ever seen.
“But comments like that put him under unneccessary pressure. He’s under enough pressure as it is. Unless he comes out and says exactly what was said by Ange Postecoglou to upset them, it just looks like he’s trying to manufacture a big of spirit in the Rangers team. I haven’t seen anything said that was that bad, or anything at all.”
