Chris Rock slammed as most unpleasant, aggressive and rude by Richard Madeley

Ricard Madeley says he has previously gone on record saying Chris Rock was the most unpleasant person he has ever interviewed in his 50-year-career. Madeley, speaking on GMB this morning, lashed out after Rock was hit live on stage by Will Smith during the Oscars.

Smith stormed the stage at the Academy Awards and slapped Chris Rock after Rock made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Rock's joke referenced Jada's difficulties with the hairloss condition alopecia.

Madeley said: "I was asked by GQ magazine some years ago 'who was the most unpleasant person I'd ever interviewed in my entire career' - that goes back to 1972, when I started in local newspapers - and I said without hesitation it's on the record, Chris Rock."

He said he interviewed Rock with wife Judy for their Channel 4 show during promotions for the film Madagascar.

Richard said: "Without going into detail, it was a pre-recorded interview, had it been live we would have abandoned it. He was the most unpleasant, rude, aggressive, unlikeable human being I have interviewed on camera - without question."

Co-host Susanna Reid she thinks people defending the attack now will change their minds in 48 hours, She said: "That was an assault."
