Chris Pratt as hit out at those who criticised his choice of words after wife Katherine Schwarzenegger gave birth.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star, 43, admitted he was "really f***ing bothered" by some of the criticism he received after sending what he thought was a positive message to the mother of his newborn child last November.
He penned a sweet message in which he thanked Katherine for their "gorgeous healthy daughter" in reference to their now 22-month-old girl, Lyla.
However, many took offence to his note and believed it was insensitive towards ex-wife Anna Faris as their now nine-year-old son Jack faced health concerns after he was born almost two months premature.
While Chris didn't speak out on the comments at the time, he has now opened up on the ordeal.
Speaking to Men's Health eight months on from his post, the Hollywood star said: ""I said something like, ‘Find someone who looks at you the way my wife looks at me'.
"And then I gave her some s*** in the thing and said, ‘But I love you. I'm so thankful for my wife—she gave me a beautiful, healthy daughter.'
"And then a bunch of articles came out and said, ‘That's so cringeworthy. I can't believe Chris Pratt would thank her for a healthy daughter when his first child was born premature. That's such a dig at his ex-wife.'"
He said he was upset as his son will read those comments one day and said he cried over it.
"I was like, I hate that these blessings in my life are—to the people close to me—a real burden," he added.
Chris has since welcomed his second daughter, Eloise, with Katherine and received praise from mother-in-law Maria Shriver.
She took to the original post to write: "I want to remind you today what a good man you are.
"What a great father you are to Jack and Lyla, what a great husband you are to Katherine, what a great son in law you are to me and what a great sense of humor you have!"
She added: "Keep being your wonderful self, rise above the noise."
Chris and Anna announced they were splitting up in August 2017. Following their split, Anna revealed that the pair had been sat down by a paediatric neurosurgeon when their son was younger and were warned he could be developmentally disabled.
She said at the time that while he grew healthier, he does have a slight vision issue as well as leg muscle problems.
