Chris Paul reveals personal issue with Scott Foster after ejection

Chris Paul‘s ejection from the Golden State Warriors‘ loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday (Nov. 22) has become a major talking point across the NBA fan base.

Foster and Paul have a long history, dating to when the veteran guard played for the LA Clippers during the “Lob City” era. Foster ejected Paul late in the second quarter on Wednesday, quickly issuing two technical fouls before issuing another technical to Steve Kerr.

When speaking to the media after the game, Paul revealed he has a longstanding personal issue with Foster. He also noted the NBA is aware of the issue, and meetings involving Paul and the veteran game official have occurred.

“We had a situation some years ago, and it’s personal,” Paul said. “The league knows, everybody knows, there’s been a meeting and all that. It’s just a situation with my son. So, I’m OK with a ref saying whatever; just don’t use a tech to get your point across. I gotta do a better job of staying on the floor to help my teammates. I had a meeting with him, my dad, Doc Rivers, Bob Delaney and all us (when I was) with the Clippers. It was a whole thing, man. And it’s still been a thing for a while. … It is what it is at this point.”

Paul’s ejection came at a time when the Warriors were already trailing by double digits. Golden State was forced to play the second half without one of its star guards.

It will be interesting to see how the NBA deals with Paul’s ejection and whether he receives any further punishment from the league.
