TV presenter and environmental campaigner Chris Packham has called out an “anonymous lying troll” on social media for spreading misinformation about his trip to Scotland.
An account on Twitter/X named @2WheelsOr2Feet responded to a Just Stop Oil post showing Packham calling on political parties to implement “robust, resilient and realistic policies when it comes to farming, fishing and forestry”.
The account responded to the video, which was first published on September 29, on Thursday and said: “So why has @ChrisGPackham just flown London-Inverness for the telly @8outof10bats?
“He promised never to use domestic flights again – then deleted the pic. There are direct trains on the route.
“You’re just his latest vanity project to get him in the media. ££££.”
Packham recently visited the Highlands to promote a new show and to visit Dundreggan, a 10,000-acre estate south of Inverness.
In response to the tweet, Packham said: “This is how lies start. With no evidence, no research, no interest in truth.
“@2WheelsOr2Feet I drove my EV (electric vehicle) loaded with equipment that I couldn’t carry on a train. It took 14 hours.
“Are you an anonymous lying troll or are you honest enough to apologise?”
In the comments, many users said “well done” to the presenter for calling out the spread of misinformation.
Others meanwhile asked the account which had claimed Packham had flown to Scotland if they would comment following the correction.
